It is generally observed that Kisan Call Centers provide answers to most of the questions related to agriculture and agricultural specialists are recruited in these centers. Queries related to livestock farming are also answered by the agricultural experts. To address this problem, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana has undertaken a unique initiative in which a call center for livestock farmers has been set up. The initiative is named "Pashu Palak Tele-Advisory Kendra (PPTAK)" and was developed with financial support from the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD). Livestock farmers can get information and advice related to livestock, poultry and fish farming by calling 62832-58834 or 62832-97919 using any phone from Monday to Saturday from 09:00 AM to 05:00 PM.
Before and after the office timings of the call center, farmers can use this app to get information about different topics and aspects of animal husbandry. Experts of the field have written answers to the most frequently asked questions in this app. Apart from this, monthly recommendations related to animal husbandry and fisheries have also been provided. This app also provides information on information and communication technologies developed by GADVASU, Ludhiana. We hope that livestock farmers will take full advantage of this unique initiative of GADVASU Ludhiana for obtaining timely information regarding farming practices.
