  • Deworming should be done according to age.
  • Thaw the semen with lukewarm water at 37⁰C before inseminating.
  • Keep a complete record of artificial insemination.
  • Feed a balanced diet and mineral mixture to recently parturated animals.
  • Reduce the amount of green in the diet of those who suffer from bloating and seek necessary treatment with medical advice.
  • To prevent the calves from harsh winters, use straw bedding and provide them with lukewarm water every day as needed.
  • Do not close the animal enclosure on all sides. Keep windows open for ventilation inside the shed.
  • Animal that has been inseminated two to three months ago should be checked by a specialist.
  • Those animals which has not conceived shall be provided with necessary treatment.
  • Start concentrate diet for animals who are about to complete gestation within two weeks.

  • Farmer’s fairs and livestock fairs are usually organized in March. Livestock holders should prepare in advance to participate in these fairs.
  • Subscriptions rates of the monthly magazine 'Vigianak Pashu Palan' are reduced during these fairs. So make sure to subscribe the magazine during the fair.
  • Spray 10% Phenyl or 2% copper sulphate solution to control pests in the shed.
  • Give concentrates according to milk production in pregnant animals.
  • Reduce the movement of the pregnant animals.
  • Change the ration formulation of livestock this month. Increase digestible crude protein by 2%.
  • Replace the liners of milking machine which are older than three months.
  • Wash the milk pipe once a month with one percent solution of nitric acid.
  • Call a specialist to check the pulsation of the milking machine.
  • Make a new solution of betadine and glycerin for teat dipping.
  • Keep pregnant animals in ventilated areas.
  • Look carefully at the animals for signs of heat.
  • Start using coolers or fountains to protect animals from heat.
  • Install fans on pillars instead of ceiling.
  • Bathe the animals twice a day between 11 AM and 3 PM.
  • Provide clean and fresh drinking water. Be sure to check the water quality.
  • As the summer proceed, change the timing of milking.
  • Make every effort to control flies and ticks.
  • Dry the cows that are about to complete gestation within two months and reduce the amount of calcium.
  • Be sure to give calves water along with milk.
  • Give calves electrolyte solution in case of diarrhea.
  • Give green fodder to milking animals when temperature is low during day time.
  • Add iodized salt at the rate of one percent in the diet of milking animals.
  • If there is a lack of magnesium in the concentrate mixture then the amount of fat in the milk is greatly reduced. Therefore, use the mineral mixture available from the Veterinary University according to your area.
  • Get animals vaccinated in the first week of June against HS and FMD in the last week.
  • Observe the animals in morning and evening that have come to heat.
  • Isolate the animals before one month that are about to complete their gestation.
  • Isolation room should be well ventilated, clean and free from sharp corners.
  • Stop the use of fountains during the rainy season but keep the fans on.
  • Prepare only 15 day feed for the animals.
  • Place the feed bags on the planks. They should also be away from the wall.
  • Use appropriate medicine for ticks in the shed.
  • Concentrates must be given to pregnant animals 15 days before completion of gestation. Stop use of calcium. Give 10-15 grams of magnesium oxide powder instead of calcium.
  • Soft palatable green fodder must be given to pregnant animals.
  • Keep milking animals inside mesh sheds to protect against flies and mosquitoes.
  • Increase ventilation inside the shed to avoid seasonal humidity.
  • Deworm every animal in the herd.
  • Do not allow milking animals to sit on the floor for half an hour after milking.
  • Immerse the teats in a solution of betadine and glycerin after milking.
  • Be sure to feed concentrates or corn husks to freshly milked animals.
  • Buffalo usually complete gestation by this month. After parturating, give one pound of jaggery to animal. Two buckets of fresh water must be given to recently calved animals for drinking.
  • Give Kahva to animals within two hours of parturition for easy expulsion of placenta.
  • Clean the nose of calf after parturition. Disinfect the navel and tie it with clean thread. Be sure to give 2 kg milk within 2 hours of parturition. Don't forget disbudding and deworming of calves.
  • Continue the routine of August in this month as well.
  • Feed a balanced diet to calves.
  • In case of slow increase in body weight, feed corn boiled in water.

  • Change the concentrate of livestock from this month. Reduce digestible crude protein by 2%.
  • Check all water sources. Have the water tested for quality.
  • If heavy metals are found in the water, drill deep or use canal water.
  • Install a roof over the pond to prevent leaves from trees to fall in water.
  • Prune the trees on the south side to allow sunshine inside the shed.
  • Use the method of AI to get the animal pregnant.
  • Get AI done from a specialist.
  • Keep a complete record of AI.
  • Properly manage herds to protect animals from the cold.
  • Keep the animals in a dry place. If the bedding under the animals gets wet then change it quickly.
  • Give asafoetida to the calves from time to time to protect them from the cold.
  • Keep animals under the roof at night and under the sun during the day.
  • Apply solution of glycerin and betadine on teats in case of infection.
  • The first cut of barseem shall be mixed with dry fodder before feeding the animals. If in case bloat occurs, give mustard, groundnut, cottonseed or sunflower oil to the animal.
  • Closely observe the animals for heat after three weeks of insemination.
