  • Spread tarpaulin sheet or gunny bags around the shed to avoid cold breeze in the shed.
  • Use heater to maintain the temperature inside the shed.
  • Provide fresh drinking water to chickens.
  • Continue the work done for the month of January.
  • Vaccinate one day old chicks against Marek’s disease, Gumboro in the second week and Ranikhet in the fourth week.
  • Keep the chicks under the brooder. Use heaters to maintain the temperature.
  • 24-hour light provision should be there.
  • Feed chickens with balanced diet according to their age.
  • Weigh the growing chickens every week and cull the weak ones.
  • Replace the bedding material.
  • Get a second vaccination against Ranikhet in the sixth week and a vaccination against Ranikhet in the eighth week.
  • Take appropriate measures to reduce the temperature inside the shed as the environmental temperature rises.
  • Take proper measures to increase ventilation inside the shed.
  • The temperature inside the shed should not exceed 35⁰C.
  • Start using coolers or fountains.
  • Booster dose to prevent Ranikhet at 16 weeks.
  • Debeaking of chickens should be done.
  • Continue the same work as done for the month of May.
  • Stop using coolers etc. due to increase in humidity in the air.
  • Maintain air flow and ventilation with fans.
  • Hens start laying eggs at 20 weeks of age.
  • By this time birds can eat up to 7 kg of feed.
  • Calcium requirement for birds increases with the onset of egg laying. Therefore increase calcium in feed.
  • At this time the light inside the shed should be available for 14-16 hours.
  • Cull the weak and non-laying hens.
  • Continue the same work done for the month of August.
  • Collect the eggs and store them in the proper place.
  • Keep a complete record of eggs.
  • Keep the shed hygienic and clean.
  • Continue the same work as done for the month of October.
